Triggering PowerPoint and Keynote Files

Some times you want to use a PowerPoint or Keynote file yet you want to keep the animations and transitions of the original file. To do this you can select the Triggering option of ProPresenter; on a Mac drag the file directly onto a playlist from the Finder, on a PC go to File, Import, Import PowerPoint, then select the Native option at the bottom.

Before you use this feature, be sure you go to the Display tab in Preferences and uncheck Display at Topmost Window Layer.

On a Mac, when you select the PowerPoint file in the playlist, you will see a Play button in the Slide area. Click on this Play button to open PowerPoint/Keynote and run the file natively. Once this happens you leave ProPresenter and are 100% in the appropriate application. To close the app press the Escape key.

On a PC this feature is slightly different in that you will be able to see previews of the slides in your slide area, and you can click on individual slides to show them on the screen.

Due to limitations with PowerPoint and Keynote, ProPresenter is triggering the presentation and relying on the appropriate program to play the presentation. This means that while a PowerPoint or Keynote file is being shown, it is PowerPoint/Keynote that is controlling the output and therefore any content within ProPresenter (Mask, Props, Messages, etc) can’t be shown over the output content.
